i2i AI Compare Guide

AI Compare is an enhanced version of our Compare tool, powered by artificial intelligence. It automatically analyzes and highlights key differences between document versions-sections, helping you spot important changes faster, more clearly, and with greater accuracy.

Where to find it on the platform?

The i2i AI Compare is available in Compare Versions of the product pages and will appear only when it’s enabled as part of your subscription. If you don’t see the Compare Versions section with AI Compare, it may not be included in your current subscription/s.

How to use the AI Compare?

  1. On the product page, expand Compare Versions.
  2. If not yet enabled, click on the toggle for Compare with AI.
    • Note: Access to AI Compare depends on your Compare subscription.
  3. Select the language in which the versions are written.
  4. Choose the Prior Version and the Newer Version. Only versions where the newer one was published after the prior one can be compared.
  5. In the AI Compare window, choose a section from each version for the comparison.
  6. Select a Result Format, which determines how the AI will present the comparison. Then click the Compare button.

How to access the historical comparison?

  1. In the AI Compare window, click on the History tab.
  2. Use the filters to narrow down the list by date, prior version, and/or new version.
  3. In the Result column, click View to open a previously generated comparison.
  4. To remove an item, click Delete in the Delete column next to the entry.

How to start a new comparison for the selection or different section selection?

  • To generate a new comparison for the same sections selected, choose a different result format in the Compare Result window then click Refresh button.
  • To create new comparison for different versions and sections:
    1. In the Compare Result window or Compare History window, click on the New Compare button.
    2. Choose different versions in the dropdown at the top of the section selection columns.
    3. Choose a section in each column to compare, select a result format, then click on Compare button.

What does the Total Subscription Limit mean?

A subscription is set with specific number of AI queries, which are shared across all users under that subscription.

  • Every version-section comparison generated by AI Compare counts as one query.
  • The total usage is cumulative—meaning every query made by any user contributes to the overall limit.

What standards has AI Compare enabled?

The i2i AI Compare is available for the most-viewed main versions of standards with PDFs containing table of contents metadata. Availability also depends on publisher permissions. Currently, the AI Compare is not available for standards from SAE and AS due to publisher restrictions, and UL standards due to format incompatibility.

Does AI Compare analyze the entire document?

No. AI Compare only analyzes the specific sections you select from each version. Due to technical limitations (such as AI model token limits), the tool can only process a limited amount of content at a time. For the most accurate insights, we recommend selecting targeted sections for comparison.

How accurate is the response provided by the AI Compare?

AI Compare is designed to help you quickly identify and understand changes between document versions. While it offers valuable insights, the responses are generated automatically by AI and are not reviewed by a human. As a result, the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of the output may vary depending on the complexity of the content and the sections selected.

It’s important to understand that AI Compare is a support tool and not a replacement for legal, technical, or compliance advice. For critical, sensitive, or high-stakes matters, we strongly recommend reviewing the original documents and consulting with a qualified professional.

How the AI Compare Generates Responses

AI Compare is powered by Azure OpenAI’s GPT-4o mini model, an advanced large language model (LLM) designed to understand and generate natural language.

When you use AI Compare, the tool analyzes the specific sections you’ve selected from two versions of a standard. It then applies a prompt—based on your chosen result format—to generate a comparison that highlights the key differences. It’s important to note that the response is generated automatically by AI and not reviewed by a human. While the model is highly capable, the output may occasionally be incomplete, lack context, or require further interpretation—especially with complex or highly technical content.

AI Compare is designed to assist your analysis, not replace it. For any critical, legal, or compliance-related matters, we recommend validating AI-generated comparisons against the original standards and consulting a qualified professional when necessary.
